Mission McKinney 2012

There are moments when my son truly amazes me. Usually, they involve opportunities to see the man he is becoming. This week, I got to experience that one more time. Jack broke his arm last weekend, and we saw the orthopedist on Monday. He has a broken humerus and several hairline fractures within the elbow joint. Most kids would have taken this opportunity to rest and play video games. Not my J-Man! With permission from the doctor, of course, Jack chose to honor his commitment to serve at Mission McKinney. This year, the FBC youth teamed with other area churches to present and lead Backyard Bible Clubs in backyards all over McKinney. Tuesday, Jack arose early, and headed off for service.

Jack was especially fond of this shy little boy, named Drew. He and Jack became fast friends and Drew was Jack's shadow during VBS.

Although Jack couldn't help with water games, he was still able to assist with other recreational activities. He said it was tons of fun playing with all the little kids.

The theme verse for Backyard Bible Clubs was "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19 NIV) I pray my son will always remember that beautiful truth in his life. God provided us with the resources and doctors to meet his needs this week. And Jack gave back his time to the Lord as an act of worhip. I could not be more proud!
