This past weekend we had a camping getaway at Eisenhower State Park near the Oklahoma/Texas border on Lake Texoma. The park is beautiful and we had an amazing time. We set up camp at a lovely campsite overlooking the lake and then went for a hike. Along the trail were tons of fossils and the kids were mesmerized by one particular fossil that was quite large in a rock alongside the trail as we walked. We saw a few Monarch butterflies making their way to Mexico, observed the leaves, gathered a few acorns, and even saw a real armadillo! One of the best parts of the trip involved a hike we took down by the water's edge. There are cliffs that have caves that been eroded into the sides. We did a bit of rock climbing and sat in the caves for a bit. It is a tradition that you carve your name into the cliff there, so Marty left our mark there so all would know the Arbuckle's had been there! Admittedly, I am not much of a "granola" girl. But, we all thoroughly enjoyed the day and relaxed around the fire with grilled hot dogs, smores, and stories. We can't wait to go again. My favorite part of the trip was watching the sunrise over the water on Sunday morning with the kids. It was so peaceful and the kids loved watching "the world wake up."
The kids loved skipping rocks on the water. Of course, skipping quickly turned into finding the biggest rock possible and watching it splash! Ha!

It was a wonderful weekend of family fun and helped us to slow down and enjoy the beauty around us.
